Morristown, New Jersey, Attorney

Professional Experience

Brian is a proud product of the NJ public education system. Raised in East Hanover, NJ, he attended Hanover Park High School.

Upon graduation from high school, he attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Economics.

In 1989, Brian graduated from the Rutgers School of Law–Newark and embarked on a career with some of the state’s most highly regarded law firms, including Smith, Stratton Wise, Heher and Brennan of Princeton (now Stevens & Lee) and Harwood Lloyd of Hackensack as well as Fortune 500 companies. Brian’s work in private practice has related to commercial matters, including creditors’ rights work, title litigation, transaction work, contracts, health care law and commercial litigation.

While he was working as private counsel, client AT&T Capital asked Brian to join the company as a full-time staff counsel. Later, when AT&T was sold, he was asked to stay on to manage the contracts of successor Newcourt Communications Finance Co. He managed its contract portfolio and negotiated large financial transactions with companies such as Wal-Mart.

Because of his experience, he was asked to join the in-house litigation group at Summit Bancorp, then located in Hackensack, NJ, where he provided counsel to senior bank management.

During the bank consolidation years, Brian returned to private practice in Hackensack, joining the firm of Harwood Lloyd. There, he practiced commercial litigation in state and federal courts related to a wide range of legal disciplines and developed a business relationship with two of the country’s largest title insurance entities.

Once again, Brian was asked to join a client he served as private counsel and accepted a position as Fidelity National Title Insurance Group’s in-house litigation counsel for the state of New Jersey. There, Brian litigated title and related issues for FNTG clients throughout the state. Two years later, he was asked to manage both the NJ and NY in-house litigation groups for the company, supervising a group of six attorneys as well as a support staff. During that time, Brian also maintained his own case portfolio and continued to make appearances throughout New Jersey on behalf of FNTG’s insureds.

Most recently, Brian returned to his roots, putting to good use the experience and contacts he gained over his career of 20-plus years, in the form of Romanowsky Law in Morris County, NJ.

He is a member of the American, New Jersey and Morris County bar associations.
